Welcome to the Westcoast Chordsmen,

Perth’s premier senior men’s barbershop chorus

Our Background

The Westcoast Chordsmen has over 30 active members singing four-part, unaccompanied close harmony in the barbershop style.

Through its membership of Barbershop Harmony Australia it is affliated with the international Barbershop Harmony Society, the world’s largest men’s singing organisation.

What we do

We meet weekly for rehearsals in Joondana, Perth, Western Australia, and enjoy our music in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We perform regularly in concerts at Stirling citizenship ceremonies, retirement, age care homes and charity organisations. We perform a mixture of well-known songs, sung in rich harmony sprinkled with fun. We have become very popular performers at the WA Primary Mass Choir Festival, held each year at Winthrop Hall, UWA

Our History

The Westcoast Chordsmen was formed in January 1998 under the leadership of Bruce Okeiy (O.A.). Bruce has been involved in Barbershop singing since 1984 and was instrumental in introducing this style of singing to Australia. Kim Sebbage, who has a musical pedigree and coaching experience of the highest standard, has taken over the role as Music Director in 2017. Bruce is now our Music Director Emeritus and still takes a active part in our chorus. We are privileged to have two outstanding musical leaders and educators.

Barbershop History

Barbershop is a style of four-part singing to blend as one voice, creating full music so that accompanying instruments become unnecessary.
